Eileen O'Connor

SUNY Empire State College
Professor
Latham, NY, United States
Dr. Eileen O'Connor began her career in chemistry in government and industry in the 1970\'s and in technology at IBM in the 1980\'s. After pursuing a doctorate in science education and instructional technology, in the 1990's, she moved into the academic side of science and technology, starting to use virtual reality environments in her science education master's classes at the State University of New York (SUNY) Empire State College in 2007. As her college expanded by creating an emerging-technology masters, and coupled with the availability of open-simulator environments, she now leads adult students from a variety of backgrounds into creating environments that meet the training and educational needs within their professions. Eileen publishes her work on virtual environments (as well as on other emerging-technologies and pedagogy) in both a best-practice and an action-research format in educational technology journals.
